Spring Safety The enjoyable spring and summer weather finally appears ot have arrived. With that weather, more people, especially children, will be active outdoors. Please consider the following safety recommendations.
- Drivers should be more aware of motorcycles and bicycles.
- Drivers should also be aware of children playing in streets or parking lots.
If you have a pool, please be aware of some general buidling code requirements. In-ground pools require at least a four-foot fence around the pool. Above-ground pools (with water depth of more than two-feet) require a four-foot barrier (the sides of the pool can be used to meet this barrier need) and an ability to secure access- a lockable or removable ladder. For specific details, please contact the City's Building Inspector. Please also properly maintain the pool to prevent unsightliness and breeding grounds for insects.
Recreational burning is allowed within the City, but such burning must be within an approved UL- container, including a grate and lid, and no closer than ten feet to a building. No permit for these fires are required. Refuse and yard waste may not be burned. For more information about recreational burning, please contact City Hall or the Fire Department.
